Learn How Trailing Can Improve Your Tracking Skills and Performance!
By now you’ve all heard how Trailing is gathering interest around the World and we won’t be left behind! I have been building up a Trailing Program for three years now, slowing learning, working with my own dogs, developing content, and working with amazing teams in lessons.
Something everyone wants to know is how Trailing and Tracking are the same and different. This seminar is for people who are curious, who want to know what it’s all about, and who are interesting in finding out how Trailing can add to your toolkit, enhance your performance, plus give you and your K9 partner more to do!

Here is what you can expect in the seminar:
Instruction and theory will help bridge tracking and trailing, explain how they differ and ways trailing can complement and enhance your skills and performance.
Trailing is a growing sport that has roots in practical work related to SAR and tactical pursuit by K9 teams.
Learn about future goals for a trailing system for more testing opportunities, fun and learning. Our style of trailing focuses on nose down precision, no running (!) and teamwork between people and with our dogs.
The seminar is suitable for beginners (you must have a beginner’s level in trailing or tracking); and for experienced teams who want to learn more.
Day One: Friday, April 11, 2025
- Individual sessions to observe and evaluate teams with critique and observations, to help design the weekend. Each team will receive individual assessment and help based on observation over the next two days. We will also talk about your goals and answer your questions in a safe, individual setting.
Day Two: Saturday April 12, 2025
- Get to work first thing in the morning with exercises. Everyone will learn by watching. There will be some experienced “Runners” and participants will also have a chance to be a Runner for another team.
- Group lunch, discussion and in-class learning and theory for some downtime indoors and rest for the dogs.
- More fun exercises to finish the day.
Day Three: Sunday, April 13, 2025
- “Mock test” day! Experience blind or semi-blind trails and being a ‘runner.’
- All trails will be designed to suit your level of experience.
- Roles of the Runner and Evaluator will be demonstrated.
- Learn how maps and apps fit in.
- Learn from watching with Debriefs after each trail.
- Watch experienced teams in action to know what you’re aiming for!
Everyone will receive copies of maps and a Participation Certificate.
The seminar will take place in the Olds – Red Deer area to take advantage of a variety of environments. Easy drive from Edmonton or Calgary! I hope you can come out to see what this Trailing thing is all about.
We guarantee – your dogs will love it and find a NEW GEAR with the motivation trailing provides. We also guarantee a lot of fun and wonderful circle of supportive people.
